History

In early 2009, a group of people was commissioned by three churches, Faith Community, Cedar Hill, and Midland Park, to consider options for a fresh look at Christian Reformed worship in Northern New Jersey. This group of people was committed to Christ and to sharing our faith in Him, and they set out to present the truth of Jesus Christ in a way that would remove cultural barriers while maintaining positive connections to the wealth of tradition that the Christian Reformed Church had to offer.

After seeking and obtaining the approval of the councils of each of the churches, this core group began to meet on Sunday mornings in October of 2009 to continue in prayer and worship and to prepare to welcome more people. At 10 a.m. on November 1, 2009, Restore held it’s first service in Faith Community’s Barn. That first Sunday the Barn was bursting at the seams as over 130 people came to worship together.

As November progressed, and Restore regularly exceeded the Barn’s capacity, it became clear that a new venue would be necessary. Cedar Hill’s fellowship hall was made available, and at 10:30 on November 29, the group moved to its new location where they have met since.

While it has taken a couple of months for a core group of worshippers to emerge, Restore has been very happy to welcome, in addition to young adults and families, a handful of people not currently affiliated with any church. The increasing attendance at these services led to the need for committed and trained leadership, and in May of 2010, Jeremy Mulder came on staff as the pastor of Restore.

The future of Restore looks bright, and you are invited to join us on the journey as we grow as a community and as a body of believers committed to Jesus Christ and proclaiming him to the world!
