Session 3: God Is Trustworthy

Hey Team,

Seedlings

This week we are continuing with our Big Deal, “A to Z! God Takes Care of Me!” We will teach preschoolers that God is trustworthy. Our Bible story is Moses and the Red Sea from Exodus 13–14. God promised His people He would take care of them as they were freed from slavery in Egypt—and He did! He gave them everything they needed and even parted the Red Sea so they could safely cross over to the other side. Preschoolers can know that God always does what He says He will do, and they can trust Him.

Sprouts

This week, we will teach that God is trustworthy when they doubt. Doubts are normal! And when we do doubt, we can remember that we are secure in a God who is trustworthy. In Exodus 13–14, Moses led God’s people out of captivity in Egypt. But when they reached the Red Sea (with the Egyptian army chasing them), the people began to doubt God’s plan and ability to rescue them. However, God showed He was trustworthy by parting the Red Sea and enabling His people to cross over to safety on dry land. When doubts come, the kids in our ministry can know that God is always trustworthy.

Connect: Where in your life do you want to see God’s victory? What could help you trust Him as you wait?

Pray: God, You were powerful enough to rescue the Israelites and lead them across the Red Sea, and You are powerful enough in my life too. Help me trust You when I doubt.

🎄 PREPPING FOR CHRISTMAS

Hey Volunteers!

From now until December 15th we’ll be spending some time each week practicing for Christmas! YAY! Don’t freak out! It’s going to be SUPER low Key!

Here is what I need you to do EACH WEEK :

• Run through the script with the kids in your class - if they have reading parts.

  • Seedlings will probably NOT have speaking parts ;)

  • I will have a copy of the script and assigned reading parts in your classroom.

  • As the teacher, you’ll read any parts that don’t have a student in the room

• Sing through the YouTube playlist Restore Kids Christmas 2024.

  • The best way to do this is to sing songs just as you would when they are on stage. Read through the parts and sing the song as directed.

  • You can find the YouTube playlist in the YouTube app on your Apple TVs

On the 8th

We will have a full rehearsal in the fellowship hall.

On the morning of the 15th

Kids will meet in the gym to get into costume and prepare to go on stage

Any teacher that’s available to help would be appreciated

Kids will file onto stage and when the program is over, file out to the gym to take off costumes and then anyone in Sprouts and Rooted will sit with their family, Seedlings will head downstairs to do some fun crafts and have some snacks.

Nov. 17th - Session 3 - I Can Cheer On My Friends

Hey Team,

This November we are teaching kids that God made them for community. This week, we get to celebrate that we can cheer on our friends. In the book of Philippians, Paul wrote that following Jesus wouldn’t be easy. But he wanted Jesus followers to know that we can encourage and cheer one another on to stand strong and not give up. Kids can know that they can celebrate the good things of God and encourage their friends to do the same. When we cheer on our friends, our community grows stronger.

Ready to cheer? This week we are teaching preschoolers that I can cheer on my friends. Paul, a follower of Jesus, wrote a letter to a church in place called Philippi. In Philippians 4, Paul reminded his friends that it wouldn’t always be easy to follow Jesus, but they could stand firm in their faith as they encouraged and cheered one another on. Preschoolers can know that they can cheer on their friends too. Following Jesus is not always easy, and we will need to support each other.

Reflect: How can you cheer on, encourage, and celebrate your friends?

A)    Encourage them face to face.
B)    Send them encouraging messages.
C)    Build them up to other people.

Pray: Thank You, God, for the incredible friends You’ve brought into my life. Help me to see good and amazing attributes in each of them and help me to be the kind of friend who celebrates them. Amen.

Nov. 10th - I can Help My Friends

Hey Team,

As ministry leaders, we want to be sensitive and aware of the cultural conversations that may be happening in the lives of your kids and students this week. Let’s remember two core values of our culture of belonging:

1) let’s not make assumptions that kids and students are coming into our ministries ready to engage relationally or with the truths of God’s Word and

2) Let’s model a Christ-centered perspective that focuses on God’s truth and love in the midst of change.

Session 2: I Can Help My Friends Read: John 13 Highlight: John 13:12-15

Reflect: How can you serve and help a friend this week?

A)    Spend time talking and listening to my friend.

B)    Offer to help in a specific way.

C)    Speak words of encouragement and affirmation.

Pray: Jesus, You gave me such a great example of what it means to be kind, loving, and helpful to friends. Help me to follow Your example by loving and helping my friends. Amen.

Connect: What are ways you enjoy helping and serving others?

Our Get Connected Bible story this week will teach kids I Can Help My Friends. John 13:1-20 tells the story of Jesus washing His disciples’ feet. This was a dirty task reserved for servants. The disciples were shocked that Jesus would lower Himself to that level. However, Jesus taught them that friends show love and care by helping and serving one another. We get to teach kids that in community, we get to help our friends. When we do, we show the love of God.

Seedlings

We’re going to say Hey, Hi, Hello this week as we teach preschoolers that they can help their friends. In John 13:1-20 we learn about how Jesus washed the feet of His disciples the same night He would be betrayed. Jesus shocked His disciples by doing such a lowly job, but in doing so, He was teaching them the manner in which we are to love and serve one another—with humility. We can follow His example in our own relationships.
